EDN Magazine Innovation Award Winner April 29, 2010 – EDN Magazine recognized National’s SolarMagic technology in the Power Supplies Systems Category in its 20th annual Innovation Awards. The awards recognize unique, state-of-the-art electronics products in several categories.
EETimes Annual Creativity in Electronics (ACE) Award Winner April 29, 2010 – EE Times honored National with an Annual Creativity in Electronics (ACE) Award, identifying SolarMagic as the most innovative technology in the Renewable Energy category. The awards recognize creators of technology who demonstrate leadership and innovation in the global electronics industry and shape the world we live in.
Design News Golden Mousetrap Award Winner Apr 12, 2010 – Editors of Design News magazine select National Semiconductor’s SolarMagic power optimizer for a Design News Golden Mousetrap Award in the power management category. The awards showcase the highly imaginative ways that today's engineers are ‘building a better mousetrap.’
Energy Daily Leadership Award Feb. 4, 2010 – In the highly competitive category of Most Innovative Technology, judges selected National Semiconductor’s SolarMagic Power Optimizer for an Energy Daily Leadership Award. The judges determined that SolarMagic was a pioneering electronics device that enhances and assures power production from solar panel arrays shaded by trees or other sunlight obstructions that otherwise might significantly reduce electricity output.
2009 Prism Award Jan. 27, 2010 – National’s SolarMagic power optimizer received the sustainable/green technology award at the 2009 Prism Awards. Judged by invited members of SPIE and/or the Photonics Spectra advisory board, the Prism Awards for Photonics Innovation is an international competition for companies whose products break conventional ideas, solve problems and improve life with photonics. INTERPV Top 10 Jan. 20, 2010 – National Semiconductor’s SolarMagic Power Optimizer selected as one of ten solar photovoltaic picks for 2010 by the editors of InterPV Magazine. SolarMagic was selected as having one of the best fits with solar end-users and most likely to see broad market adoption in 2010.
Climate Change Business Journal--Business Achievement Award Jan 7, 2010 – SolarMagic power optimizer received the first annual Climate Change Business Journal (CCBJ) business achievement award recognizing companies, technology developers and entrepreneurs for taking risks to build a sustainable business in the climate change industry.
Electronics Weekly--Elektra Award Dec 1, 2009 – SolarMagic power optimizer received the renewable energy design award at the 7th annual Elektra Awards. Electronics Weekly and a panel of industry experts recognized National’s innovative design for its achievement in increasing the energy output and system effectiveness of solar arrays when challenged with real-world conditions. The Elektra Awards, founded by Electronics Weekly, recognize the people, companies and products that demonstrate leadership in the electronics community. The winner of the renewable energy design category was selected from among a pool of five nominees and awarded based on the performance, flexibility and suitability of their design technology.
Wall Street Journal--Technology Innovation Award Runner Up Sept 17, 2009 – SolarMagic power optimizer was named a runner-up in the Energy category for the Wall Street Journal’s 2009 Technology Innovation Awards. The Wall Street Journal received 500 nominations for this year’s competition, a record for the nine year running award program. A panel of judges was assembled to evaluate products that were truly revolutionary, and this year considered their value in a down economy.
Intersolar Award--Photovoltaics Category May 27, 2009 – SolarMagic power optimizers received the prestigious Intersolar Award 2009 in the Photovoltaics category. A panel of experts appointed by the organizers of the Intersolar exhibition, together with the German Solar Industry Association, selected National’s SolarMagic for the award. The Intersolar Award submission process was open to new products and technologies on display at Intersolar, and there were three award winners in each of the two categories, Photovoltaics and Solar Thermal Technology. The award winners represent both technological and economic innovations, create scope for cost reduction and have the potential to make an important contribution towards satisfying industrial or societal needs.
Cleantech Open Award--Runner Up AMD Smart Power Category Sept. 27, 2006 – Energy Recommerce was first runner up in the AMD Smart Power category of the California Cleantech Open awards for its web-enabled monitoring system, which enables solar energy investors to maximize their return on investment. The California Cleantech Open serves to encourage the development of clean technology companies that foster a healthy natural environment. The inaugural competition received more than 155 submissions and a panel of experts — including venture capitalists, researchers and faculty from the state's leading universities and research laboratories, and leading industrialists from related sectors—determined the winners.
